If you are a "bug" container "out of bag", or emergency preparedness kit you will probably think about the first with water, food, and other necessary supplies on. Make a note that you must include documents and letters you will certainly need if you can not return home immediately.

If you do not have space to carry all this information in your bug out bag, make copies and mail them in a great package to someone reliable who do not live in the same geographical area that you do. You do not want someone who holds these documents evacuated, too.

3. Marriage certificates and military discharge document (DD214)
For real comfort, scan all your important documents on a flash drive you can easily hold about you. With your flash drive you will be able to e-mail from any internet connection working or print hard copies without having to find another copy machine.
